Solo Performance and Concert with Triangle Tuba Quartet3:00pm

Sunday, April 22nd 3:00 PM Moore Hall Auditorium, UNCP Join the UNC Pembroke Tuba Euphonium Ensemble as we welcome the Triangle Tuba Quartet to perform a joint concert. Each group will perform separate numbers, and then conclude the concert with a joint ensemble. I will be a featured tuba soloist with the Triangle Tuba Quartet, performing the classic Arban Theme and Variations on Bellini’s Norma. Admission is free and no tickets are required. Reception to follow! The Triangle Tuba Quartet was founded in 1998, and performs a variety of musical styles, from arrangements of classical Bach, Mozart, and Haydn pieces to modern American music, marches and Jazz. Current members Jack Denniston, Irv Eisen, Paul Gramann, and Glenn Wilkinson play in a variety of Triangle settings, including banquets, music festivals, church services, nursing homes, and weddings. The Tuba Euphonium Ensemble at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke was founded in 2007, and has since performed across campus and throughout the region. Directed by Dr. Joanna Ross Hersey, the ensemble is made up of students earning degrees and certificates in Music Education, Music Business, Music Performance as well as many diverse majors. The UNCP Tuba Euphonium Ensemble presents Octubafest, TubaChristmas, and other events on campus each year. The ensemble has worked with tuba euphonium and brass performance artists from across the world, including Oystein Baadsvik, Demondrae Thurman, Gail Robertson, Dennis Askew, Danny Vinson, Tom Holtz, Chris Quade, Andrew Hitz, Lance LaDuke, Stacy Baker, JoAnn Lamolino and more. The UNCP Tuba Euphonium Ensemble recently presented recitals in Knoxville, Tennessee and Jacksonville, Florida at Southeast Tuba Euphonium Conferences. Graduates of the ensemble are now teaching a new generation of students to love the tuba and euphonium!
