Performance with the Women’s Army Corp Band

    7:00PM

    Fort McCellan Chapel, Anniston, Alabama

Join me as I perform with an amazing group of Army veterans for a concert celebrating the WAC Band. During WW2 the military established women’s bands in all of the armed services to assist the war effort, closing them down again after the war. One WAC band stayed on however, until the early 1970s, when the U.S. military bands were finally integrated by gender. Every two years members from this special band gather for a reunion and concert. Because of my research about women in military bands, I met these women, and have been adopted by this amazing group. I am honored to perform with them! Read about my research on my publications page.
